Twyla Waterson has had the privilege of educating students for thirty-one years. As a proud alumni of Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, she spent six years in the classroom teaching first and second graders in private schools in both Tahlequah and Broken Arrow. Mrs. Waterson then moved into the principalship at New Adventures Elementary, Broken Arrow, where she served for 5 years before moving to public education in Muskogee. Mrs. Waterson’s passion to make a difference for all students led to the move to Tulsa Public Schools in 2002. Even though the last twenty-four years have been served as a principal, her driving passion is teaching; whether it is realized through faculty, staff, Sunday school class, her own three children and even her grandchildren she feels privileged to be able to share knowledge and help shape young minds to be good citizens and have a positive impact on their world.

Melissa Jones- Chunu was born in Tulsa, OK and attended Tulsa Public Schools. After receiving a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Oral Roberts University in 2001 she began her teaching career at Alcott and Greeley Elementary Schools, working with Title I students who resided in underserved areas.

In 2005, she earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University. She married Oreva on March 18, 2006. Shortly after their union Jason and Hannah were born into their family.

In 2011, Mrs. Chunu accepted the Vocal Music Instructor position at Booker T. Washington High School (her alma mater). While at Booker T. Washington Mrs. Chunu served as the Fine Arts Department Chair, Women Empowered Sponsor, Class of 2018 Sponsor, and was nominated as Teacher of the Year. She enjoyed serving as assistant principal of Sequoyah Elementary School for two years.  Currently, she is pursuing her Doctor of Education degree in Administration and Leadership from Oral Roberts University and is an active member of ORU's Educational Task Force.

Throughout her many years in education, she continues to mentor and nurture students by encouraging them to overcome obstacles. Mrs. Chunu is very excited to partner with students, colleagues, and families to help every child at MacArthur Elementary School achieve their personal goals.
