MacArthur Elementary, is committed to Excellence! MacArthur is a place of learning where all students, regardless of any external factors including race, gender and socioeconomic background are encouraged to achieve their greatest potential. The staff focuses on students' learning styles as they plan challenging learning activities.
The mission of MacArthur Elementary is to develop students who excel as lifelong learners both academically and socially and who develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to help them succeed at life.
POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION SUPPORT SCHOOL
We are a Positive Behavior Intervention Support School where we focus on elevating the positive in each child as well as teaching students how to interact in a positive manner. Using rigorous curriculum along with supporting teachers to develop greater conceptual understanding and richer instruction, we provide a meaningful learning experience for all our students.
At MacArthur, we reward positive behavior through concentrated effort to recognize the positive things students do instead of highlighting the negative.
21ST CENTURY CONTINUED LEARNING CLUB
Through a grant from Youth at Heart, we offer a free 21st Century Continued Learning Club that provides homework help, free tutoring and high-interest clubs like gardening and bike club after school from 2:30-5 p.m., with a light meal included. Through the Reading Partners program, children are paired with community volunteers who work with students on a one-on-one-basis. In addition, through other business and faith-based partners, food baskets, backpacks and other services are available for families in need.
